As of the first six months of 2008, Perm shows one of the highest municipal budget revenues in Volga Federal District.

Perm City Economic Planning Department has completed a report on the development of the cities in the Volga Federal District in the first six months of 2008. According to the report, Perm shows one of the highest municipal budget revenues in the District, totaling 7,87 billion roubles (as of July 1, 2008).

Other cities demonstrate lower performance: Kazan' - 7,78 billion roubles, Ufa - 6,23 billion roubles, Samara - 6,17 billion roubles, Orenburg - 3,41 billion roubles, Ulianovsk - 3,08 billion roubles, Izhevsk - 2,35 billion roubles, Saransk - 1,8 billion roubles.

The city of Nizhniy Novgorod has a higher municipal budget revenue that estimates 9,83 billion roubles. But it has a bigger population as well. Considering municipal budget revenue per capita, Perm has 7,98 thousand roubles per head, Nizhniy Novgorod - 7,67 thousand roubles per head.

Perm City authorities pay special attention to the implementation of the revenue side of the municipal budget. When the budget implementation (as of the first quarter of 2008) indicated an increase of revenues into the municipal treasure, Perm City Finance Department proposed to increase the revenue side of the budget by 1,7 billion roubles. The proposal won support of Perm Municipal Duma.

Anatoly Makhovikov, First Deputy City Manager: "Such increase in revenue is due to a successful municipal policy concerning rent and sale of municipal property and land".
